About Jolene

Hi, I’m Jolene, the photographer behind Jolene Sykes Photography.

In 2015, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. During one of the most difficult periods of my life, while undergoing chemotherapy, I made the decision to enrol in a photography course. I needed something positive to focus on, something creative, grounding, and filled with hope and photography became exactly that.

After being given the all clear, my outlook on life completely changed. I realised just how precious time truly is and how important it is to hold onto the moments that matter most. I felt incredibly grateful for a second chance and promised myself I would spend my life doing something meaningful, capturing memories for others.

That is how Jolene Sykes Photography was born.

Photography, for me, is about far more than simply taking pictures. It’s about preserving emotions, connections, and moments that can never be recreated. Long after a day has passed, photographs remain a way to relive laughter, love, and the people who mean everything to us.

My goal is to create images that feel real, natural, and deeply personal, giving you memories you will treasure for a lifetime.

I specialise in weddings, newborn photography, maternity sessions, family portraits, milestone shoots, and events. I understand that many people feel nervous in front of the camera, which is why I focus on creating a relaxed, friendly, and supportive environment where you can simply be yourself.

My photography style is bright, natural, and storytelling-focused, capturing both the big moments and the beautiful, often unnoticed details in between.

Being trusted to photograph such meaningful moments is something I never take lightly.
